• How can I search for human services resources?
There are three ways to search: by keyword; by category, and alphabetically. You can limit any search by entering a ZIP Code and selecting a mile radius around that ZIP Code.
Search by keyword
Example: Enter keyword(s) likely to describe the service you are trying to find. You also can search for the name of an agency or program. If you enter more than one keyword, your results are based on all of the keywords. For example, if you search for “domestic violence,” your search results only will include services with both the word “domestic” AND the word “violence” in their service names or definitions.
Results: You will see a Google map, with sites where services are available listed below and services related to your search listed to the right. If you would like to see a list of agencies associated with the sites, click on “Agencies” above the map. For a printable version of the results, click the printer icon.
Search by category
Example: If you know the category of the service you are trying to find, select “Category Search” to see 11 broad program categories. Click the + next to each category to see more specific subcategories. (Some subcategories will be further divided.) Click on any of the subcategories listed to see a list of associated sites. For instance, if you would like to find out about the services available for emergency housing, begin by clicking the + next to “Basic Needs.” Next, click the + next to “Housing/Shelter.” Yous will see various categories under “Housing/Shelter,” including “Emergency Shelter.” Click on “Emergency Shelter” to see a list of emergency shelter services.
Results: You will see a Google map, with sites where services are available listed below and services offered at those sites listed to the right. If you would like to see a list of agencies associated with the service sites, click on “Agencies” above the map. For a printable version of the results, click the printer icon.
Search alphabetically
Example: If you know the name of an agency or site and want to see their listing, search alphabetically. Select “Alphabetical Search” and then select the letter of the alphabet you want to search.
Results: The list of sites beginning with the letter you selected will appear below the Google map. An alphabetical list of services beginning with the letter selected is shown to the right of the map. If you would like to see a list of agencies that begin with the letter selected, click on “Agencies” above the map. For a printable version of the results, click the printer icon. Please Note: The agency, site and service lists for a particular letter of the alphabet are not necessarily related.
