ASSISTS individuals of all cultures to assume responsibility for their own health through education and outreach services. The Division responds to public information needs or issues related to health and safety, and works collaboratively with other community entities to formulate responses to issues which impact public health. Major program areas include:
ADOLESCENT AND FAMILY HEALTH advocates for the health of children and their families through public education and working with community coalitions. Youth and family health issues addressed include: teenage pregnancy prevention, fatherhood resources, developmental asset building, family violence prevention referral and school health information.
CHRONIC DISEASE REDUCTION/LINCOLN ON THE MOVE provides educational and screening programs for adults and children regarding cardiovascular health, diabetes, and cancer prevention, including cholesterol, hypertension, nutrition, exercise and tobacco use.
INJURY PREVENTION SAFETY EDUCATION offers safety programs directed at reducing unintentional injuries and death. Priorities are established by the Injury Surveillance System and Safe Kids Lincoln-Lancaster County. Print material, videos and presentations are available on bike and home safety, fall prevention, child passenger safety/occupant restraints, and pedestrian safety. MINORITY HEALTH OUTREACH provides preventive health programs directed at reducing the high incidence of chronic diseases among racial and ethnic minorities. Primary areas of emphasis include heart disease, cancer, diabetes, and stroke. Program outreach is directed to churches, businesses, and community organizations and centers.

CAR SEAT FITTING STATION provides individualized instruction and fitting for children and expectant parents. Appointments available every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. $20.00 fee per inspection/educational session.
