  • Transitional Living Program

    Our Transitional Living Program provides living options that center on participants achieving of self-sufficiency. Through monitored facilities and onsite staff, participants may live in a cluster or scattered housing for 18-24 months (depending on the program requirements). During this time, programming elements emphasize living skills, including budgeting, problem solving, running a household, meal planning and seeking and maintaining employment.

    Transitional Services

    Post-Secondary Education Retention Program (PSERP) >

    • To help ensure participant success, PSERP offers six key components:
    • Case management to address the needs of participants
    • A monthly stipend for attending classes, completing assignments, and maintaining a budget
    • Mentors and/or tutors to provide individual support in the participant’s field of interest
    • Financial planning and coaching
    • Job searching, job shadowing, and internship assistance
    • Community involvement: participating in clubs, volunteering, and engaging in community events

    Ames and Boone.  Our transitional housing programs include:
    • Transitional Living Program (TLP): Single individuals ages 16 -21
    • Rapid Rehousing: Single individuals ages 18 -24
    • Human Trafficking Rapid Rehousing: Survivors ages 18-24
    Des Moines- Iowa Homeless Youth Centers (IHYC).  Our transitional housing programs in Des Moines include:
    • Lighthouse: Families ages 16 -24
    • Rapid Rehousing: Single individuals or families ages 18 -24
    • Tenant-Based Rental Assistance: Single individuals or families ages 18 -24 based on income
    Marshalltown.  Our transitional housing programs in Marshalltown include:
    • Transitional Living Program (TLP): Single individuals ages 16 -21
    • Rapid Rehousing: Single individuals or families ages 18 -24

    Fees: Services are offered on a sliding fee scale for private pay clients. This means the cost of counseling depends on a client's family size and income. No one is denied service because of inability to pay. Services may also be funded by the Department of Human Services, Juvenile Court, Boone County Board of Supervisors, Medicaid, and other insurance policies.
